Earlier this week, Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage at The Hollywood Bowl, on Thursday evening at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles he spoke publicly about the incident.

Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock are sharing how they feel about their recent public onstage moments.

Rock who had the internet talking for weeks after he was smacked by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscar’s touched on this moment – and Chappelle who also was attacked by someone at The Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday addressed his public misfortune. Per The Hollywood Reporter the two comics performed at a “secret” show at The Comedy Store Thursday evening in Los Angeles.

Chappelle apparently wasn’t announced on the bill (he was unnamed), but, fans were in for a treat when he took the stage. Immediately when he took the stage he began speaking about his Hollywood Bowl incident. He said that he didn’t see his face, but that he did get a grip of his hair. He added what calmed him down was seeing Jamie Foxx in “a sheriff’s hat.”

Chappelle also shared his gratitude for those who’d since reached out to him after the attack which was recorded. The attacker was arrested immediately after he was escorted off the stage.  “A lot of people love me, it turns out,” he said.

Then, Rock joined Chappelle on stage. “At least you got smacked by someone of repute!” Chappelle said to Rock. “I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair.”

Rock laughed and responded by saying: “I got smacked by the softest n—a that ever rapped.”

Beyond these topics, Chappelle also shared that he’d gotten a moment to speak with his assailant, 23-year-old Isaiah Lee. He went on to say that he’d asked Lee, who was mentally ill what prompted the attack. Lee expressed that his grandmother from Brooklyn was being forced out of her neighborhood due to gentrification, said Chappelle. He added that he appeared to be mentally ill.

Other topics explored during the show include Roe v. Wade and Johnny Depp-Amber Heard libel trial.

Before Dave made his exit, he looked Diddy in the eyes and declared: “I am in the [place] where you sat in the car with Biggie Smalls as he died,” Chappelle said. “I hate this city.”
