Hot Chip Announce New Album ‘Freakout/Release’ | News

Hot Chip have announced plans for new album ‘Freakout/Release’.

Out on August 18th, the record was propelled forward by the band’s fantastic live shows, with the five-piece aiming to take that energy into the studio.

New album ‘Freakout/Release’ is the result, and it will be released through Domino Records on August 19th.

Reconvening after our (multiple) lockdowns, Hot Chip found joy in being to create once more.

Alexis Taylor comments: “By the time we were able to be back together, we were turning on a tap and having a lot of ideas being poured out quite quickly…”

Joe Goddard describes the creative plan of attack as creating “in a natural way, without too much discussion or a grand plan.”

Working from a new studio space, guests (both remote and IRL) include Cadence Weapon, Lou Hayter, and Soulwax; the first song completed for the album has now become its spacious, absorbing lead single.

Rooted in a looping sample of Universal Togetherness Band’s ‘More Than Enough’ it melds together Hot Chip’s euphoric live energy to something intimate and soulful.

A neat preview of the incoming record, visuals for ‘Down’ were crafted by Douglas Hart and Steve Mackey.

Tune in now.
