Back in June it was reported that Lady Gaga was in talks to play Harley Quinn in Todd Phillips’ upcoming Joker musical sequel, titled Joker: Folie à Deux, and this afternoon (4 August) she’s confirmed the news with an 18-second animated trailer that also confirms Joaquin Phoenix’s return.

The trailer also shared the 4 October release date, which will be exactly five years on from the Joker film release.
According to Deadline, production will begin for Joker: Folie à Deux in December.
Todd Phillips previously produced A Star Is Born, which starred Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
Lady Gaga’s most recent feature film acting role was in last year’s House of Gucci.
