Smoke Shop Worker Engages In Deadly Shootout With Would-Be Robbers (Video)

A smoke shop worker engaged in a deadly shootout with would-be robbers. Footage of the shootout shows the security guard pulling a gun on the group of potential robbers. That started a four-on-one shootout that left one person dead Tuesday, cops and reports said.

At a “Smoke Shop” in Compton, the worker stands behind a counter and appears to get shot in the face as he pulls a gun from his belt, according to the video, released Wednesday by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

As the suspects hurry to the back of the store while firing shots at the security guard, they scramble and trip over each other. Video shows them dodging bullets, sometimes inches away from their bodies.

As a bullet causes the glass display case to shatter, the worker, wearing a “security” vest, ducks for cover, video shows.

Cops said the guard somehow managed to escape the barrage of bullets, although he was treated in the hospital for gunshot wounds to the head and neck.

In a news release, the sheriff’s department said that two robbers, identified as Kahlel Lundy, 23, and Keith Rachel, 21, are still on the loose and wanted for murder.

The botched robbery began at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday at the shop on South Wilmington Avenue, stated the release. Police responded to a gunshot victim at Martin Luther King Hospital about 30 minutes after the incident, who turned out to be one of the robbers the security guard had shot.

Fox News reported, that the unidentified person died from his wounds. According to the release a second unnamed suspect was also arrested Wednesday.
