The Infamous Stringdusters teamed up with guitarist Anders Osborne to honor Jerry Garcia. The collaborators offered a recording of the Grateful Dead’s “Black Muddy River,” which they released during the Days Between.
The poignant “Black Muddy River” closes out the Grateful Dead’s 1987 album, In The Dark. In a social media post, The Infamous Stringdusters noted that they convened with Osborne in his adopted home of New Orleans to cut the tribute in single-day session in fall 2021.
“I’ve always loved hearing Jerry sing this song back in the day,” said Stringdusters guitarist Andy Falco. “When we were looking for something to do with Anders, it’s one he was particularly fond of as well, so we thought it would be the perfect song to record in honor of Jerry during this year’s Days Between (festival). Anders is such an amazing singer, I’ve been a fan of his for a long time. Needless to say it was a real treat to get to sing it with him.”
